Nearly 30 years after The Joy Luck Club hit our screens with its ground-breaking portrayal of Asian American mothers and daughters, it’s been confirmed a sequel is in the works!
Hyde Park Entertainment has announced Amy Tan, who wrote the 1989 novel of the same name, is on board for The Joy Luck Club 2 along with screenwriter Ron Bass (Rainman).
“Now more than ever it is important to share authentic stories about the Asian American experience, and we believe this film will speak to wide audiences with its narrative rooted in humanity and connection,” Ashok Amritraj of Hyde Park Entertainment Group shared in a statement with Variety.
