Shawn Mendes is hoping to brighten the lives of children in hospital – through music!
The Canadian superstar’s foundation is committing $1 million to launch a “Wonder of Music Program” at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (or SickKids as it’s commonly known).
According to the Shawn Mendes Foundation, the program will fund music therapy activities including introduction to music and songwriting classes designed to help patients cope with the mental health impacts of their time in hospital.
“Music has made such a profound impact in my life and is no doubt a form of therapy to me,” Shawn shares in a statement.

“I can only hope the Wonder of Music Program will help SickKids patients, families and staff benefit from its power as well.”
Mental health is an issue close to Shawn’s heart. He recently cancelled his Wonder World Tour to focus on his wellbeing:
“After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger.”
