Rita Ora has launched her very own line of activewear – and it’s colourful, sustainable and gives back to the environment!
Called Humans Being, the debut collection features leggings, bike shorts, sweaters, bodysuits and hoodies ranging from sizes XS to XXL, made from natural cotton or recycled fabrics such as plastic bottles.
In a launch statement, the singer says, “Fashion has always been an instrumental part of my life. When I was a teenager I worked in the shoe shop, Size? on Portobello road. I remember going to the market there to look for the perfect vintage pieces to pair with the trainers I got through my job. I loved the idea of mixing modern and vintage styles, repurposing an item from the past in a way that made me feel special and unique, and it’s something I still do to this day.”
She adds that she wanted to apply that concept to her clothing line: “When I founded Humans Being, I wanted to embody this same mentality using recyclable materials to create clothing that’s both stylish and comfortable. It was important for me to create looks that people can feel good wearing both inside and out. I’ve put together an absolute dream team for this, and I can’t wait for people to get their hands on it.”
The garments can be returned for recycling too through the brands’ collab with Reskinned. a business that re-uses, re-homes or re-purposes clothing.
As for the giving back part? A portion of sales from Humans Being goes to their foundation which has partnered with the World Land Trust to purchase and protect rainforests. According to their website, over the next 5 years the company’s goal is to purchase more than 10,000 acres of rainforest to save more than 2 million trees!
