Given his lack of belief in God and religion, he is chosen for a dubious expedition. An evil corporate (led by the very talented south actor Nassar), wants to destroy Ram Setu for commercial gain, but there’s a catch. He needs evidence that can prove in the Supreme Court, that the bridge is not man-made (or Ram made), instead naturally formed. If proven so, no religious sentiments would be hurt on its destruction.

There are also references to the civil war in Lanka, and Jaffna being a hot spot. But all these mentions of current affairs are window dressing, merely. The intention of the film is laid out for everyone to see: the conversion of the secular, science-minded Aryan into a believer who convinces the court of the weight of that belief, which becomes the only truth.

Akshay Kumar is given a golden opportunity in this film. His character – Dr Aryan – is unlike anything he has done in the recent past. He is an atheist, who needs to be converted to the cause. He looks different, talks different, and is conceptualised in a much different manner than many of his recent roles. His recent filmography has often been criticised to contain many public service announcements disguised as motion pictures. Ram Setu gives him a chance to do something different.
