Gwyneth Paltrow is turning 50 soon and she’s reflecting on her life so far and all that is yet to come.
The actress and entrepreneur who will mark the milestone on September 27, posted a photo of herself on her Goop website, leaping joyfully across a grassy field in a bikini along with a heartfelt message:
“I understand on some level that life is linear, that I have lived x number of days thus far and I have more in the basket under my arm than I do in the field before me. But here is something about the sweetness of life that exists deep within me that is unchanged, that will not change. It is the essence of the essence. It seems to be getting sweeter.”
Gwyneth shared memories of her parents’ 50th birthdays, how she’s learning to balance “the scales of acceptance and accountability”, address her mistakes and regrets and slowly, slowly become comfortable with who she is:
“I have a mantra I insert into those reckless thoughts that try to derail me: I accept. I accept the marks and the loosening skin, the wrinkles. I accept my body and let go of the need to be perfect, look perfect, defy gravity, defy logic, defy humanity. I accept my humanity.”
She goes on to share that she hopes to “slow down” in this next chapter, hold herself “to a higher standard of compassion” and continue to hold her children as the “greatest accomplishment” of her life.
